Intel i7 first generation vs Intel i7 Second generation?

I want to get a gaming laptop, and I see some laptops with a i7g1 and i7 g2. The g1 has more hertz, for example quad core 3.40ghz and the only g2 i can find only go from 2.00 ghz. I was wondering wich one should I get.
