My rental has been stolen and sold..now I have a warrant can anyone help?

First off I was not told I was renting the car only paying for it with my debit card.now that I got more information recieved thats considered putting the car in my name.the rental was stolen and sold..and It was my sons father who needed the car let someone hold it whom never brung it back and sold it..now im fault for it and my sons father friend claims he had given it back.now I dont know what to do...i reported it stolen and now hertz contacting me saying im gonna get a warrant due to non collection of the car.
