Minimum Credit Score for Hertz Rental?

We are renting a car from Hertz (or at least hoping to) on Friday. We DO NOT have a credit card and know that they will do a soft pull credit check if we use a debit card. My husband's credit score on Equifax is "fair" (not completely comfortable putting exact number but its <650) and we are worried we will get denied. Anyone have experience renting with a low credit score and debit card with Hertz and care to share?
